The Psychedelic Furs have recently begun touring the club circuit with nothing to promote but their new romantic back catalog of goodies. Performing a good selection of their hits not all that different from the songs on their set list only last September at Club Revolution in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the recently re-formed 80s post-punk icons kicked off their 2010 Summer tour in that same city last night.

From the two times in my life that I have seen them live (and only recently, at that), the group exudes an incredible affection for their old hits music, which peaked in popularity in the mid-80s. Last night, singer Richard Butler enjoyed the stage and fans more than I would have imagined, judging from some of the morose posing I recall in the Furs old music videos. The band, also composed of brother Tim Butler (bass), Rich Good (guitar), Mars Williams (saxophone), Amanda Kramer (keyboards) and Paul Garisto (drums), are certainly alive and well*.

Now watch them live in the videos I captured last night (all songs are uncut and listed below in the sequence they performed them, though many other songs I never recorded, as I prefer to enjoy a live show by watching with my own eyes!):

They started off the show on a high not with their cult hit “Love My Way”:

    Hans,

Thanks for your review of the Furs show and the videos. Do you happen to remember which Roxy Music song they played in the encore? I am going crazy trying to figure it out…

  2. sushi r Says:

It was Pyjamarama. It was so weird hearing him do Ferry. I recognized the song but couldn’t place it at first…

Did you happen to get a video of Sister Europe?

    • indieethos Says:

OK, yes, I did hear that, now I remember. Roxy is a definite influence on these guys, so it was a logical cover.

Sorry, these were all the videos I got, though they did a great version of “Sister Europe” indeed. In fact, they performed all the songs pretty respectfully.

Awesome, a band from Hollywood CA just released a kick ass version of ‘HEAVEN” that just come out.
